A forest area has been burnt on purpose to be 'cleaned' and to farm it. Grass will be planted in to make meadows. Extension of agriculture is one of the causes of the deforestation of the Amazon. The sums of money earned by selling gold are reinvested in agriculture and cattle raising around the mine. It's a second wave of the deforestation.
